Children’s Leadership Training Camp at Catholic Church, Sant Nagar, Saharsa
The Children’s Leadership Training Camp, held from October 30th to November 3rd, 2024, at the sub-enter Catholic Church in Sant Nagar, Saharsa, provided an opportunity for the children of the Saharsa parish to engage in meaningful activities during the Diwali holidays. The camp focused on building leadership skills, boosting self-esteem, and offering value education and career guidance.
The program aimed at empowering poor tribal children, particularly from the Santhal community, by enhancing their inner potential and leadership qualities. The camp’s objectives included ppromoting confidence, improving social interaction, and ensuring the overall development of the children.
Various activities were conducted to achieve these goals:
- Group discussions and storytelling about influential personalities
- Visual aids, charts, and role-playing activities like dance, skits, and recitals
- Inter-group competitions to encourage teamwork and leadership
The children, many of whom are from rural villages, gained confidence and showed improvement in their ability to take initiatives and work as a team. They also participated in cultural programs showcasing Santhali traditions, further developing their confidence and talents.
The residential camp created a sense of unity among the children, who hailed from different schools and hostels, and provided them with valuable leadership and communication skills, thanks to sessions led by Fr. Suraj Mathew.
The camp concluded on November 3rd with a joyful gathering, leaving lasting positive impacts on the participants. The event was made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Varanasi Province of IMS, which continues to support initiatives benefiting the underprivileged tribal communities in the region.
